  • Terrifier 3 Movie Pushes Boundaries with Controversial Opening Scene

With Terrifier 2 becoming a staple among horror fans, director Damien Leone decided to take it up a notch and preserve the gore legacy in the sequel Terrifier 3, releasing in theaters October 11, 2024. Critics claim that the opening scene in the new Christmas slasher is very extreme. Hollywood Studios has stated they are not even willing to support the film due to the level of gore that Terrifier 3 will be displaying. As Leone puts it: “If you thought Art the Clown’s reign of terror in part 2 was extreme, you haven’t seen anything yet” However, my opinion is that with horror fans craving the new styles of gore and splatter genres the community will be more than accepting for Art the Clown’s horrific killing sprees. We have all seen a noticeable uprising in Damien Leone’s ability to cross boundaries and make people squeamish. The amazing thing about Art, played by none other than David Howard Thornton, he’s not just terrifying, we find him relatable and funny. So what can horror fanatics look forward to in Terrifier 3? Victoria Hayes, first appearing in Terrifier 2016, is back as a possessed survivor. Sienna and Jonathan are returning. Christmas themed Slasher. More gore and violence then previous installments. Wrestler, Chris Jericho, is returning as an attendant at the psychiatric hospital. We are headed for a part 4! Yes! You read that right! Damien Leone has stated that if Terrifier 3 is a success we are looking at getting a Part 4! ( SCREAMING INSIDE ) Leone has done a great job at hiding the plot since filming and assures us that the behind the scenes will be worth the watch as well. I guess we will all have to wait till October to know anything else. In the mean time check out the Official Teaser Trailer for Terrifier 3 movie to see why this opening scene is so controversial! Happy Slashing! #terrifier3 #arttheclown #damienleone #horrormovies #movietrailer #terrifier

  • Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving Gets a Board Game Adaptation! - Trailer

#ThanksgivingBoardGame #EliRoth #StopTheKillerGames #JohnCarver #HorrorBoardGames #BoardGameNight #SlasherGame #HorrorFans First, it was a fake trailer. Then, it became a real movie. Now, Eli Roth’s throwback slasher hit Thanksgiving is getting an official board game adaptation from Stop the Killer Games! In Thanksgiving: John Carver’s Carving Board Game from Stop the Killer Games, players start by attending an in-store Black Friday sale that spirals out of control, with people dying in horrific ways in every aisle. But things go from bad to worse because a killer wearing a John Carver mask is also on the loose, murdering the townsfolk in droves
Unlike the movie, you are rewarded for dying
A LOT! The player who dies the most is revealed to be John Carver, triggering a final battle between the rest of the players and Carver! Who will win? And more importantly, will they be thankful for their victory? Exclusively watch the official trailer for Thanksgiving: John Carver’s Carving Board Game below, which was written and directed by Nate Ragon. Nate tells us, “Working on this game has been the most fun so far with Stop the Killer Games, and doing the trailer was an added bonus! From day one I envisioned it to be a sort of throwback to the original Thanksgiving trailer from Grindhouse, and I think we definitely nailed that style.” Based on Eli Roth’s movie, the official board game is designed by Roth and Jon Cohn, produced by Anthony Masi and Nate Ragon, with illustrations by Zachary Jackson Brown. Eli Roth said in a statement to Bloody Disgusting, “When we started production on Thanksgiving, Jeff Rendell gave me the board game Silent Night, Deadly Night. I had it in my office during shooting. I thought it was so hilarious and perverse, we actually said, ‘What if we made a board game out of Thanksgiving?’ By complete coincidence, the team at Stop the Killer reached out to me after the film was released, and I said not only do I want to do it, I had specifically been thinking about all the things we could do if we were ever to make one.” “I worked with the incredible team of game masters, writers, designers, and horror uber-fans to come up with something that was not only fun but was playable multiple times with different ridiculous results,” Roth continues. “I dreamed of making a game that you could play after you watched the movie, or if you wanted to live in the world of the game and go deeper into the strange characters and twisted killings, you can go inside the film through the game. I wanted real participation not just in trying to win but in audience creativity. If you’re good at coming up with great kills, you just might be able to survive John Carver’s Carving Board. I was deeply involved in every aspect of the game and wanted something that could ruin any family Thanksgiving gathering.” Game designer Jon Cohn adds, “Eli laid out three very clear mandates for the game: create the most offensive holiday game ever, make it easy enough for Grandma to learn, and make sure Grandma absolutely hates it. I’ve made a number of licensed games in my career, but this was the first time I had a chance to co-design a project alongside the actual creator. Eli has been an incredible collaborator on this game; he’s been dedicated every step of the way to push the experience into something tailor-made for anyone who is a fan of Thanksgiving. In every meeting, Eli has been incredibly supportive of the game’s direction and is always ready with an idea to elevate the game to the next level. He even went as far as writing an entire deck of trivia cards specifically for players visiting McCarty’s Party (the only safe place in Plymouth)!” “During each round, one player assumes the role of John Carver and acts as Judge, Jury, and Executioner as the rest of the players take their turns. Those players will be prompted to provide the most outrageous, gory, and gross answers possible, leaving it up to the current Carver player to choose who dies at any given moment. One of the hardest aspects of making games based on horror films is figuring out how to deal with the fact that there’s a murderer going around killing all of the characters you’re supposed to be playing as. Thanks to Eli’s mandate, I came up with an idea that’s sort of the opposite experience of most horror games. In Thanksgiving, you actually WANT to die
a lot!” Stop the Killer Games’ Anthony Masi tells us, “Since starting this board game company in 2022, I’ve been able to help create games based on some of my favorite horror movies, and most of them have been with our partner company, Fright Rags. With their help, we were able to fast-track the Thanksgiving game and completely design it and test it in record time, which will enable us to release it in November of this year. To get 10% off and 3 Limited Edition stickers, go to www.stopthekiller.com and use code NOLEFTOVERS!” You can pre-order the Thanksgiving board game now, shipping November 2024!

  • The Man Behind the Mask: Robert Englund's Indelible Mark on Horror

#RobertEnglund #FreddyKrueger #NightmareOnElmStreet #HorrorMovies #HorrorIcon #WesCraven #SlasherFilms #HorrorLegend #CultClassic #HorrorFans #MovieFacts #BehindTheScenes #HorrorHistory #ScaryMovies #80sHorror In the pantheon of horror icons, few names resonate as chillingly as Robert Englund. Best known for his portrayal of the sadistic and supernatural killer Freddy Krueger in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series, Englund's contribution to the genre extends far beyond his most famous role. Let's delve into the career of this legendary actor and explore how he became a cornerstone of horror cinema. Early Life and Career Robert Barton Englund was born on June 6, 1947, in Glendale, California. His journey into the world of acting began at a young age. Englund attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and later studied at Oakland University in Michigan. Before donning Freddy's infamous glove, Englund was a classically trained actor with an extensive background in theater. The Birth of a Nightmare Englund's career took a pivotal turn in 1984 when he was cast as Freddy Krueger in Wes Craven's "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The character of Freddy, with his burned face, razor-sharp glove, and sadistic sense of humor, quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Englund's portrayal was both terrifying and charismatic, making Freddy one of the most memorable villains in horror history. Here are some intriguing facts about the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" movies: Origins of Freddy Krueger: Wes Craven was inspired to create Freddy Krueger from a combination of real-life events and childhood fears. The character's name came from a bully who tormented Craven during his youth. The Glove: Freddy's glove, with its razor-sharp blades, is one of the most iconic weapons in horror. The idea for the glove came from Craven's desire to create a unique weapon that would stand out in the slasher genre. Johnny Depp's Debut: The original "A Nightmare on Elm Street" marked the film debut of Johnny Depp, who played Glen Lantz. Depp's memorable death scene, where he is pulled into his bed and a geyser of blood erupts, remains one of the franchise's most iconic moments. Freddy's Makeup: Creating Freddy's burned face was a complex process that took around three hours each day. Special effects artist David B. Miller designed the makeup, which became more refined with each subsequent film. Box Office Success: The original film was a huge success, grossing over $25 million on a budget of just $1.8 million. This success spawned a franchise that includes nine films, a television series, novels, comic books, and a crossover film with another horror icon, Jason Voorhees, in "Freddy vs. Jason" (2003). Freddy’s Evolution: Throughout the series, Freddy's character evolved from a menacing figure into a more comedic and taunting villain. This shift is particularly noticeable in films like "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" (1987) and "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" (1988). Beyond Elm Street While Freddy Krueger is undoubtedly Englund's most iconic role, his career is filled with diverse performances that showcase his range as an actor. Englund appeared in numerous other horror films, such as "The Phantom of the Opera" (1989), "The Mangler" (1995), and "2001 Maniacs" (2005). His work spans television as well, including roles in "V" (1983-1985) and guest appearances on shows like "Supernatural" and "Stranger Things." Englund has also lent his voice to various animated series and video games, bringing his unique brand of horror to new mediums. His distinctive voice can be heard in projects like "Justice League," "The Batman," and the video game "Injustice 2." Legacy Robert Englund's impact on the horror genre is undeniable. His portrayal of Freddy Krueger has left an indelible mark on pop culture, influencing countless films, television shows, and even music. Englund's dedication to his craft and his ability to bring depth to even the most sinister characters have cemented his status as a horror legend. As fans continue to revisit the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series and discover Englund's other works, his legacy as the man behind the mask endures. Whether he's haunting dreams or appearing at horror conventions to greet fans, Robert Englund remains a beloved figure in the world of horror.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny (known for "Civil War" and "The Craft: Legacy"), Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. "Alien: Romulus" has been described as “an original standalone feature,” set between the events of the first two Alien films. Here’s the full plot synopsis from the script co-written by Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues (of "Evil Dead" fame): While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. Ridley Scott, the original director of "Alien," is on board as a producer for this latest installment and has praised it as “fucking great.” Fans of Álvarez’s 2013 reimagining of "Evil Dead" know that he has a knack for revitalizing classic horror franchises, so expectations for "Alien: Romulus" are sky-high. • Halloween TV Series: Exploring the Future of the Iconic Franchise

#halloween #halloweentvseries #michaelmyers # Halloween TV Series: Exploring the Future of the Iconic Franchise The Halloween franchise has been a staple in the horror genre for over four decades, captivating audiences with its iconic slasher villain, Michael Myers, and the enduring battle between him and his nemesis, Laurie Strode. As a fan of the Blumhouse trilogy, which brought the franchise back to its roots, I have been eagerly following the news and updates about the upcoming Halloween TV series. In this blog, we will explore the latest developments, the potential storyline, and what fans can expect from this new chapter in the Halloween saga. ## The Confirmation of the Halloween TV Series In October 2023, Miramax Television and Trancas International Films announced their collaboration on a Halloween TV series. This partnership also includes Blumhouse Productions, which previously worked on the successful recent film trilogy. The announcement of the Halloween TV series marked a significant milestone for the franchise, offering fans a new medium to explore the world of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. ## Going Back to the Original Film: A Creative Reset According to Marc Helwig, the Head of Worldwide Television at Miramax, the Halloween TV series will be a "creative reset" that goes back to the original 1978 film directed by John Carpenter This approach indicates a departure from the recent film adaptations and a focus on the characters and themes that made the first Halloween movie a timeless classic. While specific details about the series are still scarce, the creative reset opens up exciting possibilities for exploring characters and storylines that may not have received much attention in the recent movies. This shift could introduce new perspectives and breathe fresh life into the franchise. ## The Future of the Halloween TV Series: A New Universe? One intriguing aspect of the Halloween TV series is its potential to kick-start a universe that spans both TV and cinema Miramax's partnership with Blumhouse Productions suggests a desire to create a cohesive narrative that extends beyond the TV screen. With the franchise's sprawling mythology and rich history, the Halloween TV series has the opportunity to reintroduce beloved characters from previous films while exploring new stories and perspectives. It remains to be seen how the show will connect with the existing Halloween timeline and whether it will revisit characters like Jamie Lloyd, who played a significant role in the fourth and fifth films ## The Impact of the Blumhouse Trilogy Blumhouse Productions made a significant impact on the Halloween franchise with its recent trilogy, which centered around the escalating conflict between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. While the reception of the final film, Halloween Ends, was mixed, there is no denying the trilogy's success in rejuvenating the series and reigniting interest among both long-time fans and newcomers. The Halloween TV series will not connect directly to the Blumhouse trilogy, as it aims for a creative reset and a return to the original film's characters and concepts ## The Hopes and Concerns of Fans As a fan, I have mixed feelings about the Halloween TV series. On one hand, the creative reset offers an opportunity to explore untapped characters and storylines, potentially breathing new life into the franchise. On the other hand, it is disappointing to see another return to the original film, potentially retelling stories we have already seen. While it is unclear how the Halloween TV series will unfold, many fans are hopeful for something new and fresh. The notion of moving the franchise forward without the character of Michael Myers has been contemplated before, most notably in Halloween III: Season of the Witch. It will be interesting to see if the series takes a similar path and introduces new horror elements while still paying homage to the original film. ## The Talent Behind the Halloween TV Series While specific details about the cast and crew of the Halloween TV series are yet to be announced, the involvement of Miramax and Blumhouse Productions suggests a commitment to assembling a team with a deep understanding and appreciation for the genre. The Halloween franchise has a rich history of talented actors and filmmakers, and the TV series has the potential to attract both established names and rising stars. It will be exciting to see who takes on the roles of iconic characters like Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, as well as the introduction of new faces that will enhance the Halloween universe. ## Conclusion: Anticipating the Unfolding of the Halloween TV Series The Halloween TV series presents an exciting opportunity for fans to dive deeper into the iconic franchise. With a creative reset and a return to the original film, there is great potential for fresh and engaging storytelling. The possibility of connecting the TV series to a larger cinematic universe adds another layer of anticipation. While many details are still unknown, the Halloween TV series promises to deliver the scares, suspense, and iconic characters that have made the franchise a beloved part of horror history. As fans anxiously await further updates, we can only hope that this new chapter in the Halloween saga lives up to the legacy of its predecessors. As a fan, I am eagerly looking forward to seeing how the Halloween TV series evolves and how it will contribute to the ever-growing mythology of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. With the right combination of creative talent and a fresh perspective, the future looks promising for Halloween fans worldwide.

  • "Exploring the Legacy of 'Wrong Turn' 21 Years Later"

#wrongturn #horrormovies #20thcenturyfox In May of 2003, there was a lack of big-screen horror until 20th Century Fox released Wrong Turn. This collaboration from director Rob Schmidt and screenwriter Alan B. McElroy arrived in theaters the weekend after Memorial Day. The fairly successful film later inspired a whole franchise of follow-ups, which surpassed the original in terms of sheer gruesomeness. However, this underappreciated backwoods horror still excels in areas its direct descendants do not. Reflecting the real world, horror steadily shifted toward urban settings. In the late 1990s, the great outdoors was largely abandoned as a dreadful destination and backdrop, especially after the release of Scream. Characters no longer had to leave their neighborhood to feel threatened. However, the next decade saw a resurgence of travel terror. Vacations overseas and across borders commonly unfolded in horrific fashion (Hostel, Turistas), and local sojourns, like that of Wrong Turn, did not turn out any better. Despite its unique focus on domestic ecotourism as opposed to horrors found abroad, this film still deals with the universal concept of fearing the unknown. In Wrong Turn, the unknown is represented by the Odets Family, who have largely gone undetected in this rural area of West Virginia, or at the very least, denied by locals. The mythology of these cannibalistic mountain folk evolved over the franchise’s straight-to-video phase, but the first film only lightly touches on the suggestion for the villains’ origin: inbreeding. After the title sequence, the story does not dwell on this taboo, often used as a narrative shorthand for strangeness, abnormality, and depravity. Even the family’s latest victims are repulsed not so much by their attackers’ grotesque appearance and lineage, but by their crimes both old and new. Sure, here is the reworded text: The film "Wrong Turn" doesn't waste any time in its short runtime. McElroy distilled the wilderness horror subgenre to its essential elements, and Schmidt provided a fast pace to complement his polished direction. The characters, including a doctor named Chris (Desmond Harrington), are all doomed within the first fifteen minutes of the film. These condemned characters are thrown into a backwoods misadventure after their cars collide on a foreboding country road, rendering their cell phones useless. While the film may lack depth and complexity, there are moments of well-written dialogue that add to the overall enjoyment. By the time "Wrong Turn" was released, the trend of self-awareness in horror had been overplayed. This self-referential approach eventually transitioned into pure comedy, as seen in the "Scary Movie" franchise. The film's serious take on the horror genre was refreshing, even if critics and audiences didn't fully appreciate it at the time. Schmidt's aim to create a straightforward survival film was precise and, in hindsight, undervalued. The film's approach to postmodern horror is minimal, with the exception of a conscious yet facetious attempt by two characters to summon help. Overall, the film's unaffected approach offers a more immersive experience. In rustic, culture-clash horror films, there is often a tendency to blame the victims. These outsiders typically find themselves in places where they don't belong and, due to their ignorance or arrogance, offend their aggressors, leading to their punishment. However, "Wrong Turn" doesn't rely on a clear-cut set of ethics. The antagonists would have hunted Chris and his fellow prey regardless of their actions. The film suggests that the antagonists have a preference for human flesh, without attributing their behavior to external factors such as overhunting or ecological concerns. This departure from convoluted murder motives is somewhat liberating in a slasher film. It's not realistic to expect profound character development in any "Wrong Turn" film, especially the later installments. However, the first film avoids reducing its characters to stereotypes or mere numbers in the body count. While underdeveloped, the characters of Chris, Jessie, Carly, and Scott still come across as believable and sympathetic. Unlike characters in some 2000s horror films who are intentionally obnoxious, the characters in "Wrong Turn" are worth caring about. They demonstrate altruism by looking out for one another, both physically and emotionally, in the face of adversity. Above all, fans of "Wrong Turn" expect to see carnage. While the subsequent chapters in the franchise are more violent and over-the-top, the first film still delivers on this front, satisfying gorehounds and fans of surprise elements. Notably, the treetop beheading and the unexpected arrow to the eye are memorable set-pieces. Additionally, the involvement of the late and great Stan Winston, who co-produced the film and oversaw the practical effects and makeup, further enhances the film's appeal.
