It's our most favorite time of the year here at Scary Vibes Community, Halloween. So, what better way to celebrate this spooky season than by learning more about the holiday. Like the history of Halloween, how Halloween connects with horror, and also a spooky interview. Yes, an interview with the masked man himself. The one who made Scary Vibes the horror community it is today, Mr. Scary. History of Halloween We all know Halloween traces back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which was celebrated 2,000 years ago in what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France. Samhain marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, a season that is often associated with darkness and death. They also believed that on October 31st, the boundary between the living and the dead became transparent. Which allowed spirits to return and roam Earth. Therefore, in order to protect themselves, people lit bonfires, wore costumes, and performed rituals to ward off ghosts and other supernatural beings. Which later on, turned into the more modernized Halloween in America we know today. Halloweens Connection To Horror So, how does Halloween connects to horror? Halloween is linked to horror, because it originated from those ancient traditions. Those that blend with Celtic, Christian, and folkloric beliefs about spirits, death, and the supernatural. Over time, Halloween absorbed all those folk-like elements. Such as witches, vampires, ghosts, and monsters. Today, Halloween has more modern day traditions that still blend with the old like: Trick-or-treating Haunted houses Scary stories Horror films Modern day customs have also amplified these themes making fear, and horror in general Halloweens identity. Furthermore, carrying the traditions of the holidays historical connection to the unknown and fear. An Interview with Mr. Scary I had the absolute privilege of being able to ask a few questions to the creator of the Scary Vibes community, Mr. Scary. His love for horror and Halloween has sparked some interest among the horror community. Especially, due to his mysterious ura of making horror content behind a horror icon's mask. The interview: Q: What made you fall in love with horror? Mr. Scary: “My earliest memory is my mom telling me I used to run around at two or three years old screaming "Don't f*** with the Chuck" from Child's Play. After that, she started showing me horror movies I probably shouldn't have been watching — Halloween, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Tales from the Crypt. That turned into weekend marathons with my cousins: video store runs, pizza, and horror on repeat. It just evolved from there into who I am today — Mr. Scary Vibes.” Q: Would you consider Halloween your favorite time of year because of horror? Mr. Scary: “I'm a fall baby. Scorpio. This is my season. I'm happiest and most comfortable in the fall — I love the weather, everything about it. Horror is just the cherry on top.” Q: What is your idea of the perfect Halloween night? Mr. Scary: “Crisp, chilly weather. Big hoodie. A tavern-style pizza from Phil's, my favorite spot on the south side of Chicago, with a two-liter of RC Cola. And scary movies with people whose company I actually enjoy.” Q: What is your idea of the perfect horror movie? Mr. Scary: “Slashers are my bread and butter — that's what entertains me. But the movies that genuinely scare me are possession and demonic films. The first time I watched Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project, that found-footage dread hit differently.” Q: Now to ask you the most important question that you always have as your guest on the Scary Vibes podcast, What is your favorite scary movie? Mr. Scary: “I have a ton, but Scream is my comfort movie. The original Halloween from 1978 is the perfect blueprint for what a horror movie should be. I also love Rob Zombie's Halloween remake — he kicked it up a notch. But when people ask, my answer is always House of a Thousand Corpses. When that came out, I was about ten or eleven, growing up on Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer as box office hits. Watching House of a Thousand Corpses blew my mind — horror could have that kind of raw style. The psychopaths, the set design, all of it. Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street Recently, there has been some controversy on TikTok and X, over Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street. The controversy being whether or not he should be canceled due to his horrifying backstory; and overall violent nature. This discourse went viral after Fortnite had released his Fortnite skin for the 2026 Halloween season. So, after forty-two years should Freddy Krueger be canceled? Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street Wes Craven the writer and director of A Nightmare on Elm Street, was inspired by a real-life news story about a boy who died in a PTSD-like nightmare (a Cambodian refugee family who fled to the US) and combined that with his own childhood fear of being afraid to sleep. A child being killed in a nightmare had become the premise of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Thus, leading him to explore the idea of a villain who was able to kill people in their dreams. Which is how Freddy Krueger was born. When it came to writing this character, the original idea was to make him a child molester. Wes Craven quickly scrapped this idea and changed the script during filming. This was to help avoid exploiting a real case of child abuse that was happening in California at the time. Making Freddy Krueger a child murder instead. This was also confirmed by Robert Englund (the man who played the original Freddy Krueger) himself, when asked about Freddy Krueger being a pedophile during a Comic Con in 2015. The Backstory of Freddy Krueger- A Fictional Character In the 1984 film, Freddy Krueger is a child murder from Springwood Ohio. Freddy Krueger was burned to death by an angry mob of parents. This was after he was accused of killing dozens of children; but due to the technical error (the search warrant being signed in the wrong place), was released. This of course left the community in outrage. Leading to the parents to take justice into their own hands. In which they tracked Freddy into his hideout at the local powerplant boilers room. Which is where they trapped him inside and burned him alive. Now his spirit now stalks the dreams of teens, using a bladed glove to kill them. The bladed glove, along with his red and green striped sweater, and fedora had become iconic. Furthermore, the film’s real life horror inspiration and fictional storytelling made this a classic. Making Freddy Krueger one of the horror icons of that time like Jason from Friday the 13th, Michael Myers from Halloween, and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Thoughts From the Horror Community After going over Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street inspiration, writing process, and the back story of Freddy Krueger, let's circle back to the question, “Should Freddy Krueger be canceled?” and the answer to that is no. Here is why: First and foremost, Freddy Krueger is a fictional character. Freddy Krueger was never someone to idolize, he is a villain. Not all villains were made villains; some were born that way. Freddy Krueger being the prime example of that. A lot of this is coming from the 2010 remake and not the original franchise. Let’s be clear, true horror fans and those who are a part of this community do not claim that remake. Robert Englund is our Freddy Krueger. Freddy Krueger is literally the walking embodiment of nightmares. Let me say that again, NIGHTMARES. The worst possible things you can imagine he brings to life. Most people who are saying Freddy Krueger should be canceled have probably never watched the original franchise, are newer generations coming into the horror community, and are just basing their opinion off what they googled when searching his name. The true question is, can you enjoy a fictional villain or horror movie without endorsing their actions? If you have a moral compass, then the answer is quite simple. Therefore, Freddy Krueger should not be canceled. In 1984, he was presented as a child killer, not a molester. Unlike the remake in 2010 which reintroduced the character with the molester element. Which goes against Wes Craven original, A Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy Krueger will always be one of the most iconic villains in horror, and the original franchise will always remain part of the horror classics. Side note from the writer: Here is Robert Englund’s answer, from the Comic Con in 2015 word for word: “You can imagine Freddy to be anything you want… My theory is the word ‘child killer’… That should be enough… I think there’s something symbolic about being a child killer. Image of Ghostface from the Scream franchise. On the last day of March earlier this year, it was announced that there would be a Scream 8. Well, it's official. Ghostface is back. After Scream 7 brought Sidney Prescott back into the franchise, it is already moving forward with another installment. Though there remains a mystery about what is to come next. Also, whether fans old and new want this story to continue. Here Is What Happening Now There have been production reports and social media announcements stating that Scream 8 has officially began filming or will be. Lots of rumors and theories have been mixed in with the facts. So, let’s address what is actually happening with Scream 8. The writers are sisters Lilia and Nora Zuckerman. The release date is to be announced. Though they are hoping to start shooting this fall of 2026. Which means a potential release date could be set for theaters in 2027. (still no filming is currently being done just in development). Kevin Williamson is not returning to direct. An official director has not yet been formally announced by Spyglass Media Group or Paramount Pictures. Current status is that the cameras are rolling for the Fall 2026 production window, even though the script is still in development. Cast is to be announced. Though Neve Campbell is expected to return as Sidney Prescott. Again, no official announcement has been made for casting. Furthermore, a lot of the plot details have been kept under wraps. Which even means we have no clue who will be under the mask, who will return, or even where Ghostface will be doing his slashing. Should This Franchise Continue? Looks like the phone is still ringing and the question is are we still going to answer it? Scream has been a franchise for over thirty years. Currently, there are seven movies (with an eighth one in development), and a tv show that had three seasons. Fans old and new have mixed feelings with the continuing of the franchise. Deeply divided by the nostalgia and the fatigue of it all. Some are even wondering, “who will be the final Ghostface?” Many critics and even long-time viewers have argued there is a creative decline when it comes to Scream. Those arguing perceptive points, being that recycling an old killer's motivations makes it lose its sharp meta-commentary of the original Scream (1996). Even arguing that it is just a heavily made fan service and should have ended somewhere between Scream 3 or 4. Theories For Scream 8 Those who are in support of Scream 8 would like to see Stu Macher make a comeback as Ghostface. Ultimately, bringing it to an end and wrapping up the Scream franchise. There has been some talk even within our Scary Vibes community, that Randy Meeks should also make an appearance. Possibly faking his own death or somehow mysteriously surviving the original kill. Debate Ignites: Should Christians Embrace Horror Films? Recently, Allie Beth Stuckey sparked a debate among the horror community and even christians themselves about whether or not Christians should watch horror. Not only that, but be fans of horror. Saying that it is contradicting and going against what Christians believe. Furthermore, insisting that to watch horror, read, and to have anything to do with the content that is related to the genre is wrong. Her reasoning was due to the fact that horror installs fear; to those who consume it. But isn’t horror part of Christianity and vice versa? Doesn’t it enlighten us about the spiritual morals of good and evil? Therefore, not necessarily “installing fear” but educating us on the realities and consequences of evil. Christianity In Horror Christianity has existed in horror even before gothic literature classics like Frankenstein and Dracula were ever written. Even before The Exorcist franchise which displayed christian symbolism. Arguably you could say that the bible itself was the first. For how it displays its own disturbing imagery like plagues, murders, and even visions of the dead coming back to life and so on. Christianity has a moral framework which reveals the reality of evil. Making it a central role in horror by offering a moral universe, symbolic tools, and narrative structures that heighten the tension between good and evil. Furthermore, making it one of the most influential religious traditions in the genre. So much so, that religious horror is a subgenre among the Horror genre. Thus, meaning that christianity shapes horror. Religious Horror the Subgenre Religious horror centers on spiritual conflict, divine punishment, demonic possession, and even corrupted religious spaces. Those religious spaces being churches, monasteries, convents, and sanctuaries. In which among these common settings' evil manifests. This genre is used to explore the reality of evil, the spiritual struggles, human vulnerability, and the need for redemption. Examples of religious horror in media would be: Rosemary’s Baby (book and movie) The Omen (book and movie) Hereditary (movie) Midsommar (movie) Bram Stoker's Dracula (book and movie) The Exorcist (book and movie) The Magnus Archives (podcast) Horror and the Christian Faith (podcast) and so much more! Without Christianity in horror films, podcasts, books, or any media we wouldn’t have that level of intensity that brings out the imagery needed in horror. Horror has always been a part of Christianity and Christianity has always been a part of horror. Ultimately, guiding our moral compass. In Conclusion Horror is more than just a factor of fear; but also one of life lessons, teachings of mortality, and the battle of evil versus good. Those who are believers (christians), need horror in order to understand the reality of their beliefs. For simply, one cannot exist without the other. There needs to be an understanding that evil is real. As well as the consequences of evil. Horror in its correct form treats evil as evil. Therefore, it is not just intended to engage fear into people; but provoke thoughts and ask questions about what is wrong and what is right.

Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2  has been pushed to a December 2025 release, production seems to be quietly gaining momentum. The X account FNAF Movie Updates  recently posted images of the pizzeria, which appears to have seen better days. Overgrown brush surrounds the building, adding to its ominous, abandoned vibe. Things get even more intriguing with photos shared by another account, katfanf , originally posted on Reddit. These images reveal merchandise stands, seemingly part of a scene in the film, as well as decorations for what appears to be a “Fazfest” event. The Reddit post notes that the photos were taken in River Town, just outside of New Orleans.
