  • David Gordon Green’s HALLOWEEN Trilogy Gets An Official Making-Of Book

#halloween #halloweenends #scaryvibes #daivdgordon The process of reviving Michael Myers for the upcoming films HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN KILLS, and HALLOWEEN ENDS. It has been announced that a new making-of book for the Halloween movie trilogy directed by David Gordon Green will be released just in time for Halloween. The book, titled Halloween: The Official Making of Halloween, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, will be published by Titan Books next month. A sneak peek of the cover and some interior pages have been released. According to Penguin Randomhouse, this book is the official companion to the latest Halloween trilogy produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions. Written by Abbie Bernstein, the book includes behind-the-scenes photography and interviews with the cast and crew. The cover of the book features Michael Myers, as seen in the poster for the 2018 Halloween film. Green brought the franchise back to life after a decade-long hiatus, following Rob Zombie's divisive reboot of the series. Green's decision to make a direct sequel to John Carpenter's original 1978 classic allowed Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise her role as Laurie Strode and simplified the continuity of the series. The 2018 Halloween film was a huge success, grossing over $255 million and becoming the highest-grossing slasher film ever, despite having a modest budget of $10 million. Due to the success of the film, Blumhouse and Universal approved not one, but two sequels. Green directed all three films, with Halloween Kills released in 2021 and Halloween Ends set for release in 2022. Both sequels were also successful at the box office, although their release on Peacock may have impacted ticket sales. Green's trilogy is a fascinating undertaking, and Halloween Ends promises to provide a definitive conclusion to the series. The official description of the book reads as follows: “The making of this much-anticipated movie trilogy is covered in fascinating detail in this official companion book. The creative processes behind the stunts, costumes, production design and make-up effects are revealed through interviews with the cast and crew, while captivating on-set photography captures the shooting of the key scenes and action set-pieces. A must for all horror fans, Halloween 2018–2022: The Official Making of the Films reveals the method behind the terror.”

  • The Future of ‘Halloween’ – Miramax Currently Shopping the Rights for Film

#halloween #miramax #halloween #halloweenends Halloween Ends wasn’t the end for the Halloween franchise, as Miramax is taking bids from studios and streamers Last Halloween, the third and final installment of the Halloween trilogy directed by David Gordon Green was released. Halloween Ends promised to be the ultimate showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, and it not only concluded the sequel trilogy but also marked the end of Universal and Blumhouse's involvement with the popular horror franchise. Blumhouse Productions produced the trilogy, which was released in theaters by Universal Pictures as part of a Miramax deal. However, it seems that Miramax is now actively seeking to sell the rights to the Halloween franchise. According to Bloody Disgusting, there is currently a heated bidding war among several interested parties in Hollywood, all vying for the chance to resurrect Michael Myers. Miramax is reportedly open to both film and television projects, and studios and streamers alike are making offers. The final decision rests with Miramax, and they will choose the project they find most appealing following the success of Gordon Green's trilogy. The Halloween franchise has never been adapted for television, so it's possible that it could be the next step for Michael Myers. Alternatively, another feature film reboot could be in the works. Details are yet to be confirmed, but more information is expected to be revealed soon. In the meantime, we would love to hear from you. What would you like to see next from the Halloween franchise? • SCREAM Musical Parody - Las Vegas

#scream #lasvegas #parody "What's your favorite scary (parody) musical?" Do you have a favorite scary musical parody? If not, you might want to check out Scream'd: An Unauthorized Musical Parody, currently playing in Las Vegas until November. The show features Sidney and her friends singing and dancing to '90s hits from popular artists like The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, No Doubt, Blink 182, and more, all accompanied by a live band. The idea for the musical was conceived by Troy Heard and Brandon Scott Grayson, who also created The Craft: An Unauthorized Musical Parody. Heard shared that he came up with the title page for Scream'd five months ago and posted it on social media, saying that if it received enough engagement within four hours, they would produce the actual show. The response was overwhelming and immediate. Scream'd is a witty and entertaining parody that seamlessly blends humor, horror, and music. One standout song features Ghostface showcasing his talents, leaving us fangirling over the character's performance. Meanwhile, Randy narrates the story in his charismatic, fourth-wall-breaking style, providing viewers with insights and tips on how to survive a scary movie. Steffan Scrogan, who plays Randy, noted that his role in the musical is more significant than in the movie, as he serves as the wraparound narrator. He also shared that there are various references to other movies in the script, including some hidden Easter eggs along the walls of the theater. The cast of Scream'd is exceptional, with Lizzy Martin portraying Sidney with both shyness and fierceness. Ray Winters is mischievous as Billy Loomis, and Joey Derby shines as Stu Macher. Katie Marie Jones brings a bubbly and sassy energy to her roles as Casey Becker and Tatum Ruley, while Noah Rivera plays the endearing Deputy Dewey Riley, who also serves as the show's choreographer. Carly Presher dominates the stage as Gale Weathers, and Kegan Witzki adds energy and attitude as "Everybody Else." If you're looking for an interactive experience, be prepared to be in the middle of the action, which might include getting a popcorn shower or some fake blood splatter. Overall, Scream'd is a well-executed and enjoyable parody that pays homage to the classic horror movie while adding its unique twist. The cast and crew are all praises for their director, Troy, who has brought this production to life with plenty of heart. You can catch Scream'd at the Majestic Repertory Theatre in Las Vegas on select days through November 4, 2023. Visit the official Scream'd page for information and tickets.

  • "The Birth of a Killer Doll: Behind the Scenes of Creating Chucky"

#chucky #donMancini #behindthescenes #horror In the world of horror, few figures are as iconic and terrifying as Chucky, the killer doll from the "Child's Play" franchise. But have you ever wondered about the creative process behind the creation of this malevolent miniature murderer? In this blog, we'll delve into the intriguing story of how Chucky was brought to life, from the mind of his creator, Don Mancini, to the silver screen. The Genesis of Chucky: Don Mancini, a young writer with a passion for horror, first conceived the idea for Chucky while he was a student at UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television. Inspired by a series of news articles about voodoo and the concept of evil spirits inhabiting dolls, Mancini began crafting a story that would become the foundation for "Child's Play." The Creative Process: Mancini's vision for Chucky involved blending the innocence of a child's toy with the malevolence of a serial killer. To accomplish this, he meticulously crafted Chucky's backstory and character traits: The Name: Chucky was named after the famous doll company, Good Guy Dolls, which is featured prominently in the franchise. The Serial Killer's Soul: In the original concept, serial killer Charles Lee Ray transfers his soul into a Good Guy Doll, thereby creating the murderous Chucky persona. The Appearance: Chucky's distinctive red hair, freckles, and overalls were designed to make him appear innocently playful while hiding his sinister nature. The Voice: Brad Dourif's iconic voice brought Chucky to life, infusing the doll with a chilling and unforgettable personality. From Script to Screen: Don Mancini co-wrote the screenplay for "Child's Play" with David Kirschner, and Tom Holland directed the film. The combination of a compelling story, dark humor, and the terrifying doll brought the character to life on the big screen in 1988. The Evolution of Chucky: Over the years, Chucky's character evolved, becoming more self-aware and embracing a twisted sense of humor. Don Mancini's involvement in the franchise remained consistent as he wrote and directed several sequels, each adding layers to Chucky's character and expanding his lore. Legacy and Impact: Chucky has become an iconic figure in the horror genre, spawning multiple films, a TV series, merchandise, and a dedicated fanbase. The character's unique blend of horror and humor has left an indelible mark on pop culture. Conclusion: The creation of Chucky is a testament to the power of creativity in the world of horror. Don Mancini's vision, combined with the talents of actors, directors, and special effects artists, brought this killer doll to life and turned him into a household name in the realm of horror. Chucky's journey from concept to cinematic legend is a fascinating tale of creativity, innovation, and a touch of malevolence that continues to thrill and terrify audiences to this day.
